` Plant Care: READ ME!!!
- Cannabis plants are transitioned from the veg stage (18+ hours of light) into the flowering stage when exposed to sunlight or grow lights that are on a 12 dark/12 light cycle. If you want to keep your plants in the veg phase (growing, not budding) make sure they are kept in a room that does not allow sunlight into the room, but you will need to use a grow light. Even a little daylight leaking around a window shade can be enough to cause them to go into flower (to bud).
- They have been under 18 hour light thus far.
- If you’re planting outside: Because of Maine’s short growing season, we start the seedlings indoors and suggest you plant them outside after the last frost. You could give them a boost by using a cold frame or other covering at the start. If you purchase your plants before you’re ready to put them outside please re-read the first paragraph on this page to better prepare for your cannabis plant.
- There are lots of insects, molds, mildews and viruses that love cannabis as much as we do. We have had success by spraying the plants twice a week to prevent issues. This frequent spraying reduces the possibility of bugs or other parasitic molds becoming established on your plants. (1oz apple cider vinegar per gallon of water) This is good for indoor and outdoor growing.
- If you are going to grow outside, it is a good practice to remove raspberry bushes and other brushy plants and keep the grass short around your growing area as bugs and mold spores often flourish on those plants.
- It is a good idea to protect your plants from the constant dew and frequent drizzles we experience in the fall. We grow under the roof of an outdoor greenhouse while leaving the sides and ends of the greenhouse open.
- The internet is an excellent source of grow information. Be sure to check online for further grow instructions.
We wish you success with your grow!!
BE SURE TO CHECK THE WEATHER FORECAST BEFORE PLACING PLANTS OUTSIDE. There are many great grower supply stores in the area that can help with any needs your plants have, we recommend Cannabis Farmers Union on rt26 in Oxford.
